Along the way, we will visit Dhankar Valley and explore the Dhankar Gompa, perched dramatically on the edge of a cliff amidst eroded rocky pinnacles. If time allows, we will take a one-hour trek above the village to marvel at the stunning turquoise Dhankar Lake, offering panoramic views of the valley and the majestic twin peaks of Mane Rang. After soaking in the sights, we will proceed to Tabo, famously known as the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas'. Here, we will visit the 1020-year-old Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its ancient paintings depicting the life of the Buddha, intricate portraits of gods and demons, and life-size statues of bodhisattvas blending western Tibetan, Indian, and Kashmiri styles. Once our exploration is complete, we will return to Kaza for an overnight stay.
